Planting and Growing Guide for Belgian endive (Cichorium intybus)

Description

Belgian endive (Chicory) is a herb and bitter salad/greens plant that has been used as food or as a medicine for thousands of years. Use chicory as you do with greens, spinach, cabbage or lettuce in salad, stir-fries and as a side serve. Chicory is easy plant and grow and can be planted out from seeds or seedlings when soil temperatures are above about 10 degrees C (50 degrees F). Belgian endive is not frost tolerant. Belgian endive prefers deep, fertile, and well-drained acidic soils.
