Planting and Growing Guide for Asparagus pea (Psophocarpus tetragonobolus)
Description
The Asparagus pea is an annual legume that produces wing-shaped pods. It is a low spreading plant with small leaves and flowers that are deep crimson in color. Pick the pods regularly when they are about 2.5 cm (1") long. The Asparagus pea is easy to cultivate especially when you provide twigs or a low trellis to keep the stems off the ground. But it needs a long growing season to flower and fruit properly. In cooler areas it pays to start the plants indoors before
transplanting in the garden.
